Des francophones dans la longue liste du Polaris

Gatineau, Karkwa et Pas Chic Chic ont été retenus dans la longue liste des finalistes au Prix Polaris 2008. Les trois groupes francophones comptent parmi les 40 formations en lice pour remporter les 20 000$ offerts par l'équipe du Polaris, bourse destinée aux artistes ayant produit le meilleur album canadien paru entre le 1 juin 2007 et le 31 mai 2008.

Outre Gatineau, Karkwa et Pas Chic Chic, la liste comprend plusieurs représentants du Québec, dont Ghislain Poirier, Islands, Plants And Animals, Socalled et Thee Silver Mt. Zion Memorial Orchestra and Tra-La-La Band.

Les membres du jury, 185 observateurs issus de différents médias canadiens, voteront au cours des prochaines semaines pour déterminer la petite liste du Polaris 2008 dévoilée le 7 juillet. Le nombre de finalistes passera alors de 40 à 10. Le grand gagnant sera connu cet automne.
