Le verdict est tombé le mardi 4 septembre à 22h15, grâce à son album Myths of the Near Future, The Klaxons remportent l'édition 2007 du prestigieux Nationwide Mercury Prize. Décerné depuis 1992 par la presse anglaise à un artiste britannique ou irlandais, peu importe ses chiffres de vente, le Mercury a directement influencé la création du Polaris Prize au Canada. Outre celle des Klaxons, la dernière parution des Arctic Monkeys, de Bat for Lashes, d'Amy Winehouse et de Dizzee Rascal étaient notamment en nomination.
